We have a set of french doors that were waxed,although to the touch it feels like a woodstain,is it ok to undercoat and gloss these or should i wipe them with eithr turps or meths. i dont want them to ciss or peel

Liberon do a wax remover, paint over it as it is and it wont key. I suggest you prime the timber and knot (if neccessary) as well.
