Employment Strategy

So you have a great product or service, you've gained the financial backing you need to launch it and you've come up with an advertising campaign that is going to make your product or service the must have of the season.  Job done. Sadly not. There are still many things still required and one of the most important is coming up with an employment strategy. In this blog we'll look at the particular problem that The Building Experience face regarding our employment strategy.

One of the 5 p's (or 6 if you want to be clever) of the marketing mix is people. If you are ever unfortunate enough to have listened to an interview by the self publicist and multi millionaire Richard Branson, you will know that he considers people to be the most important thing in a business, and on this i would have to agree with him. So we have to come up with an employment strategy. This could be only employing graduates, or only employing heterosexual, British males between the ages of 20 - 25. That may be an extreme scenario with every type of discrimination possible, but sadly despite the litigation to stop this, it does till go on. Anyhow i'm digressing from the point. The point here is whether you are a multi - national accounting firm or a singleton used car sales store, the people you employ and thus your employment strategy will play a huge role in the success (or failure) of your business.

At The Building Experience i would suggest finding and employing the right people is the biggest challenge we face. Our employees need two things primarily. One, to be highly skilled in their trade, two, to be able and willing to interact with our clients and teach them their skills. These things are hard enough to find individually, let alone finding people who tick both boxes. Actually there is a third requirement, they need to be willing to work weekends. This might not seem like a huge problem but for some people this is a deal breaker.

Finding the people that can make The Building Experience a success is therefore clearly a huge challenge. In a perfect world everybody would have the warm, charming interpersonal skills and highly skilled technical building knowledge of Nick Knowles, but alas he is a rare breed. However these people are out there and through a process of interviews, references and an element of trial and error we will find them.

But do not fear. If you are thinking about taking part in The Building Experience you definitely don't need to worry who is going to be beside you to support you with your construction project. Because despite the challenges in finding them, we can assure you only the very best people get to where the purple!
